Knowledge of Business Marketing
Whether you’re selling a product or service, you’ll need to know, just as many of the top companies in today’s world, the best way to market your business.
In today’s modern age of technology and increased use of digital media, businesses can target consumers using a variety of different platforms online. Social media can be extremely helpful in increasing your business’ exposure to consumers and can also be one of the least expensive ways of doing so.
How do you push your branding offline? Go even further by showing it in your packaging. You can use customized boxes and packages to carve out and show your identity to customers. Since they’re customizable, you can add anything that fits your business’s branding. Be sure your designs leave a lasting impact on customers so that they’ll remember you.
In addition to the various social media platforms used by millions of consumers, you may also find that purchasing advertising space on websites may also be a viable way of getting the word out.
No matter the business, websites of all types feature advertisements ranging from products such as toys and games to services like a personal private accountant or lawyer.
Following the Law
For anyone looking to establish their own business, it is extremely important to adhere to the laws of your particular country or region.
In many countries, laws regarding businesses whether you can find their features online or not, are set up as regulations to protect individuals as both consumers and employees. Laws also have a part to play as it pertains to issues such as tax evasion.
Lastly, but definitely not least, making sure your business is fully legal is extremely important to avoid criminal offenses. This is important as laws may differ depending on your geographical area.
Is it Profitable?
One of the most important aspects of business is understanding revenue, cost, and profit. Does your business have the potential to attract enough customers to maintain your finances?
Making sure your revenue, that is, the total income of your business is sufficiently greater than the costs of production and maintenance is a must. This is to ensure that you remain in an adequate situation to support yourself financially.
Are You Passionate About it?
Starting a business isn’t all about the money. To begin, you’ll need to spend a fair share of your time working hard to ensure that your business succeeds. If you’re not the least bit motivated about your endeavor and are not passionate about what you’re doing, you may not do a good job or provide the best for your customers or clients.
Many successful business entrepreneurs needed to work extremely hard and fail in order to learn. These individuals were very much interested in their businesses and were not about to allow themselves to fail. Understanding this, you may want to think twice about starting a business you’re not very captivated by.
Start Your Business Today
Overall, it’s extremely important to consider these aspects of business in order to begin. Most success stories you will hear required work and perseverance to ensure that the business did not fail.
Consider some of these, and just maybe you’ll have a great business.

What a solid and brilliant post you have written here Erik.
For over a decade now I have been providing a website development and design service to loads of different clients across the globe. I started it as a hobby at first as I was inexperienced in business and I was working full time in a bar at the time.
One of my first lessons though was to use a contract and ask for a 50% deposit. I got a rather big job via an acquaintance from the bar I worked in for a Hip Hop Music and Merch Website. I spent 2 to 3 weeks building it, coding it and testing it. One of the features it had to have was for the sites visitors ability to upload a video to the site and post it automatically to the site owners YouTube channel.
I launched the site and was really happy with the result, Everything worked in all the browsers and the upload YouTube feature was really easy and simple enough so the time had come to get paid. I asked my friend to let them know and after a few days I was told they would not pay my the two grand citing that the YT upload feature was not simple enough. Lesson Learned there methinks. Funnily though the site was all under my control, Domain and Hosting. I took down the site and put up a simple page that read: Site not available to to none payment of debt or something similar. And the logo of the site was called: Pay Ur Dets TV. 😉
That site is long gone now but it was funny at the time, will have to look it up on the wayback machine. Another lesson learned is never Assume, always read the small print and that the Status Quo can change dramatically, especially when it involves the law and banking. This lesson was learned this week incidentally.
Last year I was a Ltd company and had been for quite some time. However work had died down somewhat (I like to blame this Brexit debacle, had to get that in somewhere Erik ) nearly 25% from the previous year. My accountant suggested that I should take the company off companies house and continue as just a freelancer. I dully paid my £12.99 and struck the company off the Companies house register.
At the time I had a free online business bank account from Starling Bank (The UK’s best bank it seems ). Last Tuesday while having a business lunch and with no warning they froze my account with a nice amount of funds in it. You can imagine my horror not being able to pay my tab off (Of course I did with my personal account). I assumed that I could still continue to use it as a freelancer, Of course I know much better now. It seems that when you dissolve a company here in the UK all assets and funds automatically become the property of The Crown.
Two quite expensive lessons learned there I am sure you would agree Erik. All that said though I still love being an entrepreneur and a freelancer and although people will be excited to start on this journey they need to realize that its not a straight road and expect bumps while on the journey. My advice is to simply Hurry Up and Fail.
Best,
Phill

Hi Erik, I think being passionate about your business is key today! You have to love what you do to keep on doing it day after day and year after year. After seeing Philip’s comment I’d add collecting money to our “tasks.” Not always easy but attainable. I’ve been fortunate I’ve had only one client not pay in the 10 years I’ve been doing it. It was not enough to take them to court. But I’ll never do business with them again. Live and learn, right?

Before you establish a business and start marketing it, make sure you know your numbers. You should know your costs, breakeven point, and how many sales it will take before you make a profit. Also keep in mind that you have to put the work in if you want to be successful. Along with starting the business, you have to market it. Create your marketing plan first before you do an ounce of promotion.

For me being passionate about what you do really helps when you want to create a business. When you don’t like it, adversities seems bigger than they actually are

Dear Erik,
Being passionate about your business nowadays, in my opinion, is essential! To continue doing something day after day and year after year, you must love what you are doing. Following Philip’s observation, I would include collecting money among our “tasks.” Not always simple, but doable. In the ten years I’ve been doing it, I’ve been fortunate to have only had one non-paying client. It was insufficient to sue them in court. But I won’t conduct business with them ever again. Live and learn, I suppose.
