It seems like new social media networks are popping up all over the internet.

After quite popular sites like Medium, Tsu and Ello or less known ones as Shots, This, Pheed, and Chirp, now it’s the time to introduce some new social projects I found online.

Here are 6 new social media you need to watch.

1. Brabble

Brabble is plenty a social media.

You can interact by posting multimedia files, sharing them with friends (your followers), with “all the world” (public) or leaving your content private.

It’s possible to respond to other content with multimedia files like videos, links, audio, photos, text.

Content can then be shared on Facebook and Twitter.

The aim of the founders is to propose the platform as a single repository of any kind of file, generating particularly “rich” conversations, thanks to this communication channels variety.

Main points are, therefore, the ability to upload different media while communicating with friends and the selection of public to who address your publications (seems like Facebook features).

Pros: it is purely a “social” site. It aims only at fun.

Cons: it must achieve a very high number of users, before it breaks through. Also, there are no different functionalities compared to Facebook.

2. Heard

Imagine a social network where there is no one to follow, but it’s the technology that follows you, suggesting content in line with your interests and what you have visited recently.

Heard is an atypical social site, who depends on your interests and your past conduct.

Obviously, with the same logic, you can create content on your profile, which then will be offered to other users like yourself, who could appreciate what you have written.

Pros: I like the function to select and filter specific content, so as to reduce the background noise produced by the entire web. Furthermore, the model lends itself easily to sponsored content.

Cons: it’s missing the relational component with other people. Here the relationship is almost solely with the Heard algorithm.

3. Learnist

Consider a social similar to Medium, but oriented to education : that’s Learni.st, a platform in which to learn or teach anything along various categories.

It’s a bit different from Coursera or Udemy, because I see a more marked social component at Learnist.

The website structure is very simple: each user can establish himself, by producing quality content and gaining authority in certain areas.

Pros: each user earns popularity within the social platform with his own vertical blog. The creation of quality content seems always winning.

Cons: for self-sustaining, Learnist should probably have to follow the economic model of Udemy (training fees) or WordPress (CMS for content management). Therefore, nothing new.

4. Conspire

Conspire is the anti-LinkedIn.

A social media focused on the job, as it’s analyzes, in fact, your working connections of first instance and determines the strength of your relationships.

How?

By connecting to your Gmail account and observing your communication flows.

How well do you know your contacts?

Conspire, according to its report, will give you the chance to reach other contacts, by leveraging your existing relationships.

When I signed up, there were 36,800,903 users registered.

Pros: a way to overcome barriers in the world of work in order to get to know new people.

Cons: the analysis of  your Gmail account is an important privacy barrier before the wide adoption of this social and professional network.

5. Spot

Do you want to transform your website into a social community?

This is the idea behind Spot.

With a simple code to insert into your web pages, you should be able to generate a kind of social activity, where users will be attracted (hopefully) to your content and engage around it.

It produces basically a bubble which appears in the corner left or right of your blog, that can be used by your visitors to interact with you or with other users.

Pros: super original, it adds a new way of dialogue and commenting to your website.

Cons: high resistance from bloggers to add more “codes” to their websites. Furthermore, is it just a kind of chat?

6. Bristlr

Last but not least, Bristlr.

Let’s assume that you have a nice beard and looking for company.

Well, just take a picture and register to Bristlr, a social network that connects “bearded” with women attracted by men with beards.

Apart from the irony and the courage of founders to create a social media like this, the motto is:

Connecting those with beards to those who want to stroke beards.

Just think of a niche and create a website just for its audience.

Here is the key to create something without doubt unique.

Pros: an extreme originality accompanied by a very specific niche of users is normally a good match.

Cons: beyond it’s funny, what will be left?

Conclusion

Many new social media sites (or different online projects) are born everyday on the internet.

Probably within few years, many websites will no longer exist, returning a 404 page.

The real deal is becoming really popular or finding an effective way of monetization of the traffic/audience.

Which one will be the next Facebook?

What do you think?

Please share your views in the comments below, thanks!

After publishing a post „Social Network Sites – Which One is The Best for Traffic?” I got a lot of questions in comments and via emails about Triberr.

People don’t know how to use this great tool (is it really only a tool or maybe it’s a social network?).

I fully understand them because in the past I also had a lot of problems to understand how Triberr works 🙂

I will not publish whole guide about Triberr – it’s impossible in one post.

In this post I’ll try to reveal four most important facts and tips about Triberr.

1)      What Triberr Is

2)      Most Important Triberr’s Settings

3)      How to Join New Tribe

4)      How to Approve Tribemates Posts

Triberr - a lot of followers

First of all – what Triberr is?

Triberr is a tool (from Dino Dogan and Dan Cristo) which allows you to boost your social network efforts, especially in Twitter.

You can join here a lot of Tribes – after it you can see on your wall (it’s called tribal stream) posts from your Tribemates. Topics of posts are automatically downloaded from blogs via their RSS.

And of course all tribemates of your tribe will see all your posts too…

If your post will be interesting, it will be tweeted for you by your tribemates. It is also expected from you to share all posts from your tribe…

EXAMPLE
Let’s suppose that you are in one Tribe with 20 tribemates. All of your tribemates have altogether about 100 000 followers on Twitter. Your post is very interesting so it was shared by all of your tribemates. So you got 20 tweets only from your tribemates. But it can be retweeted by their followers…

Of course not every post will be shared by everyone. On the other hand – you can join a lot of tribes…

Most important Triberr’s settings

There are 3 important settings before you can share your post(s) with others

  • Blog settings (you should set here address of your blog’s RSS)
  • Twitter settings (you will tweet your tribemates’ posts via this account)
  • Content settings (you can set here frequency with which you will share tribemates’ posts on Twitter)

triberr settings

How to Join New Tribe

To get most from Triberr you have to be a member of some tribes. How you can join new tribes?

If you want to join specific tribe, you can make it in three ways:

1)      You can join one tribe at the registration process (you can join only public’s tribes). At this moment my tribe “Blogger’s Tribe” is open to new members so you can choose it during registration

2)      You can ask the ruler of the tribe (if you know who is it) for invitation

3)      You can leave three comments on the tribe’s posts

This is the most common way to be invited to the tribe, so I’ll describe it in some more details below.

  • Login into Triberr
  • From Menu select “Tribes” and “Browse all Tribes”

select tribe

  • Select the category or categories you are interested in

select category

  • Click “Start connecting” button
  • Browse Tribes according to chosen categorie(s)

browse tribes

  • After finding proper tribe you can try to join it. You must leave at least three comments on the tribe’s posts (in this case you will be automatically recommend as a member of the tribe). Of course tribe rulers don’t accept all requests– it’s normal and you should be aware that you must be very patient, especially at the beginning… After accepting you by a tribe ruler you will get an email titled “A Call to Arms from /Ruler of the Tribe/”. In this email you can find a link to a page, where you can “Join The Tribe”. And that’s all, you are a member of a new tribe 😉

How to Approve Tribemates Posts

Now you are a member of some tribes. There is only one more thing you should do daily or weekly (I do it 3-5 times a week) – share posts of your tribemates. It’s not very complicated 😉

If you are logged into Triberr you must go to your Tribal stream – so choose  “Home” from menu.

There will be a list of posts you can share. If you want to share specific post with your Twitter followers, you should click on the orange button “Approve”.

approve post

After approving you will see something like that:

All approved posts will be tweeted for you automatically…

There is also one more tip – remember to share posts from your tribemates 😉

Other things about Triberr you can find on the internet. Fortunately there are some interesting and very helpful posts on this topic on alltriberr.com in section tutorials.

And that’s all. Do you have any question about Triberr? And what is your experience with this tool? Or maybe you want to join my tribe? Please share all of your doubts, questions or experiences in comments below.

In this post I want to share with you some information and lessons learned from about three months of participating in some social network sites. The context of it is focused on traffic that means I’ll try to answer the question: ”Is your effort worth to participate in specific social network site for traffic purpose?

Article will be divided into four short parts:

What works for me?

What doesn’t work for me?

What should work for me in the future?

Your recommendations about social network sites

Let’s start with it:

What works for me?

Below there are the most important social networks which drive traffic to my blog.

Triberr.com

At this moment it’s the best social network (in my opinion it’s not a tool, but exactly SOCIAL NETWORK). There are a lot of bloggers, internet marketers, SEO and social media specialists which share their content (blog posts) on Twitter, Facebook and other social platforms. I spend about 15- 20 minutes a day to check what’s interesting and what I want to share with my followers.

Twitter

I get most traffic (except direct traffic and organic traffic from Google) from Twitter. Unfortunately visitors bounce rate is the highest and time spent by them on my website is almost the shortest…

Facebook

Traffic from Facebook is very interesting. Amount of visitors from Facebook isn’t impressive (in last 30 days it was 148 visitors from Facebook), but average time which they spend on my site is the longest (6 minutes 17 seconds)

Traffic from Social Networks

Bloggers.com

Bloggers.com is a network of bloggers. You can get a lot of traffic from this source but you must be active on this platform. Especially when you will be one of three bloggers of the day (when I was featured I got 52 direct visits from this site only in two days) you can get some related traffic. What’s more, bounce rate is the smallest…

StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon also drive some traffic to my blog. But this traffic, IMHO, is not very good – visitors spend about 0 minutes and 6 seconds on my site on average and it’s about 63 times less than visitors from bloggers.com

There are also some “sharing” services which I didn’t try at all, but they sent some traffic to my site and I want to mention them below:

http://inbound.org/

http://hootsuite.com/

http://www.scoop.it/

http://paper.li/

BizSugar

Some of my articles got many votes on this community and it’s driving traffic to NoPassiveIncome. There are some popular bloggers using this site and I definetely suggest you to try it.

This article is hot on BizSugar, see here.

What doesn’t work for me?

I don’t want to describe why it doesn’t work for me. Maybe it’s a problem of topics on my blog, maybe I don’t know how to use it. In any case – I tried following sites without effect for my site. Maybe you have other experience? If yes you can share it in comments at the end of this post.

Reddit

I got some traffic from this site. But it’s not so easy and in most cases they prefer videos, pictures or topics not related with blogging…

LinkReferral

I spent some time on visiting and even reviewing some sites they recommend. Unfortunately without any result… What’s more, I don’t want to link directly to this site because there are some links (a few, but there are) which neighborhood may be treated as bad…

Pinterest

Pinterest is only one site from this list which I want to give another chance. But at this moment I get only few visits a month from it…

What should work for me in the future?

In this year I plan to check how following social networks work (for traffic purpose). But you can connect with me even now (if you want of course 🙂 )

Slideshare

I plan to be really active here. My goal is to create at least five presentations till the end of this year. So you can connect with me on Slideshare to see my results 😉

LinkedIn

I suppose links from LinkedIn are good not only for SEO purposes, but also for direct traffic and social proof. So don’t hesitate and connect with me on LinkedIn too.

Google+

I started to connect with some of my friends on G+ but unfortunately Google banned my personal account. I don’t know why and I’m still waiting for reconsideration. But you can connect with my website on Google+

You Tube

The last one network I plan to check this year is You Tube. At this moment I don’t know how I will find some time for creating videos, but I know that I must.

What is your recommendation about social network sites?

Okey, now it’s your turn. What works for you and what doesn’t work for you?

And what do you think about following social networks:

Blogengage

and

NetworkedBlogs

Please share your social network experience in comments below.

Every time, when you are making something for the first time, you don’t know, what will be the result of it.

But every time, and it’s not important, if it was success or failure, you have to learn from it as much as possible. It’s because you must avoid wrong behavior and continue proper actions.

So today, you can find here 10 lessons learned from the first month of blogging on NoPassiveIncome.com.

In reality, this blog was started at the beginning of this year, but in January and February only some posts were published, without any marketing effort. Work on this blog was restarted in the middle of April, so the first, full time month of blogging was May 2012.

10 Lessons Learned from First Month of Blogging

 1.       Build Great Blog First

It is one of the most important (and difficult) things – If you want to be a successful blogger, you should have great base for it. And concern not only on appearance and content of the blog – there is a lot of other things, you must care about – visibility in social media, strong relationships with other bloggers, SEO, link building, credibility of you and your blog.

If you want to have great content on your blog, please start with reading two of our articles about it:

10 Article Writing Tips, How to Write Killer Article

 2.       Make Strong Relationships with Other Bloggers

As I wrote above, having great content isn’t enough –it’s only beginning. You have to build close relationships with other bloggers. Two most important steps in building such type of relationships are commenting on other blogs and guest posting. If you don’t know, how it should be performed, please read following posts:

How Commenting May Help You Build Your Credibility And Traffic For Your Blog

and

Great Guest Post and another 9 Secrets of Guest Blogging

3.       Give First, Take Later

If you really want to build great and devoted audience around your blog, you must offer them something special. So, prepare for giving, not for taking. For example you can create some series of killer articles or lists, where you can link to other sites, blogs and resources. Below you can find two killer lists, which may be helpful for every blogger 🙂

Top 100 Websites for Bloggers

150 Great Topics and Ideas for Bloggers

 4.       Participate in Social Networks

There are a lot of social networks. We have Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest,  LinkedIn and lot’s more. Even for bloggers we have plenty of networks – for example Bloggers.com or Networkedblogs.com. It’s almost impossible to participate in all of them, but you must try to be here 🙂 Relationships make on social networks are almost as valuable, as direct relationships with other bloggers. In May I concentrated my effort on Bloggers.com and on Twitter. But except networking, you should make something special, for example tutorial for chosen network:

How to use Twitter – tutorial for beginners

 5.       Don’t Consume, Create

Reading other blogs, participating in social networks or even commenting on other blogs is very good for you, especially on the beginning of your blogging way. But all of these activities are “passive” – you consume others work.

So stop consuming and try creating something new – write article for your blog, prepare guest post for others blogs or create an ebook, which may be used by you on your blog.

Spending your whole time on reading other stuff will cause, that you will waste your time for blogging. Your time is your money, so don’t waste it, because Blogging isn’t passive income

6.       Concern Your Effort on 1-3 Things at The Same Moment

Making a lot of things, at the same time, is very ineffective. As a blogger you must prepare great articles for your blog, make relationships with other bloggers and build traffic for your blog. If you don’t have enough money for outsourcing it, and you aren’t problogger, you must do it by yourself.

For good results of your work you must prioritize your activities and concern on 1-3 tasks. For example – in one week(month) concern on 1-3 social networks, comment on 1-3 other blogs, be active on 1-3 forums, etc.

7.       Fight with Distractions

Distractions are very dangerous and time consuming blockers for you and your blog. Only you know how much time you spend on Facebook, Pinterest or by reading emails. Here you can find some tips, how to fight with major distractions.

Top 10 distractions of work in online business – how to operate with them

8.       Traffic First, Monetization Later

As you can find in one of the first articles on this blog (Goals for this blog), goal of this site isn’t making money. And even if your goal is to make money from blogging, firstly you must build credibility and huge traffic for your blog. If you will do it in the wrong order, you will fail, because people will not read your blog…

9.       Monitor Your Progress

If you want to know, where you are, you must monitor your progress. You can analyze your stats, your followers, your fans or even amount of your subscribers.

I’ll give you some examples of numbers for this blog:

1st May 2012

1st June 2012

Alexa Rank

7 860 368

841 613

Twitter Followers

27

343

Bloggers.com followers (friends)

1

(6)

17

(182)

Facebook Fans

1

2

So you can see huge progress in Alexa rank, Bloggers.com and in Twitter followers. Amount of Facebook fans is really small 😉 , but in May I didn’t make anything to get Facebook fans (and for the next two months I’ll continue it).

And here you can see graph of stats for NoPassiveIncome.com since the beginning of this year:

You can see here, that internet users start visit my site in May 🙂

10.   Don’t Give Up

This problem concerns all of the bloggers – beginners and probloggers. Sometimes we feel tired, exhausted and unmotivated. There are a lot of reasons for that – too much work, drop in statistics, only virtual contact with other people or even noisy environment at your work place.

But you must be strong and don’t give up – you are BLOGGER, and bloggers don’t give up!

And how about your experience? What are your most important lessons learned? Do you remember your first month of blogging? Or maybe it was long time ago and you don’t remember it? Please share your lessons learned with us.
