Speaking from personal experience, Pinterest just simply does not work for me. Perhaps its because a lot of the sites I promote aren’t geared towards women per se, but I have found much greater success with Twitter. The downfall of Twitter is that some people have 5000 followers and rarely see what you tweet. Also you don’t want to come across as a nuisance on people’s Twitter feeds.

Personally, I think Pinterest is a winner here, particularly in the interface and potential value it can give your website. However, the number of Twitter user still far exceeds that of Pinterest giving Twitter a better market reach in terms of networking. This gives you more chances in getting traffic which can possibly yield to better profit.

I hadn’t been on Pinterest in months and just this past weekend I hopped on to get some ideas for my daughter’s birthday party – well one thing lead to another or rather, one idea led to another, and I ended up spending quite a bit of time on there.

Ah, maybe that’s their hook…

Hello Dominique,

I have not much success on Pinterest, but found more success in Twitter. I am promoting my contest post at Blog Engage, but all I got from Pinterest are 7 likes. 😀 😀 😀 , while I got 325 re-tweets. I know it might be because I didn’t know how to go about it.

I have read several posts on how to successfully promote on Pinterest and applied them, but still, no. 7 is stuck in my contest post. What am I doing wrong? Is it too much to ask for help from you? I would appreciate it a lot. Thanks and more power.

Great post, pinterest is my choice too, but twitter is still good, if we connect with real people we can build a really nice community from it.

thanks for great post and comparison. For me personally, Twitter is better than Pinterest. Pinterest isn’t perfect, especially for some niches (blogging for example). And Twitter is very simple and effective 🙂
