One thing I would add to the research stage is product research. Often times people create a product based on what they think their audience wants. They spend months or even years creating it only for it to flop. Look at your marketplace. See what is already doing well. Give your take on it and make it a notch above the rest.

Find “proven winners” that you know will do well. Then its a matter of marketing it until you find whats working.

I love that you talk about having a product first. Most people get this wrong. They don’t start with the end in mind. They focus on content and traffic before they know how they are going to monetize it.

I fully agree with you, when you said, you can start, develop or invent many wonderful and innovative things or products, but unless you promote who will know about it and how it will be get sold. Yes the first and foremost thing is the need of promotion. For this as you mentioned you need to have an attractive website. I agree this too, but, sad to say most of the business web sites are in the beginning go well, or say kicking and going live! But sad, slowly it go slow with less activity or updation or no updation at all! Here comes a blog and play with its real color, Yes, a business needs a blog of course alongwith its wesite, which can play a lot of things than a website can A blog can reach more with the company’s latest products and its reviews or whatever connected with it often.

The promotion tools or platforms you noted in this post are a necessary ones. One need to follow those very religiously!
