Trump Says Ratcliffe Won’t Be Nominee for Director of National Intelligence

President says he will announce new pick shortly

WASHINGTON—President Trump said Friday that Rep. John Ratcliffe wouldn’t be his nominee for director of national intelligence, after lawmakers and former intelligence officials raised concerns that the Texas Republican would politicize the nation’s spy agencies and key senators quietly lobbied against his selection.

Mr. Ratcliffe didn’t undergo a full vetting process before his name was announced, White House aides said, but Mr. Trump blamed the news media for the outcome.
