New York State Delays Enforcement of Plastic-Bag Ban After Lawsuit Is Filed

Suit came from plastic-bag maker, association of New York city bodega owners

ALBANY, N. Y.—New York state agreed to delay enforcement of a ban on plastic bags set to take effect Sunday until April 1, after a lawsuit was filed Friday challenging the new law.

At a court hearing, a lawyer representing the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation agreed not to levy any fines related to the ban, according to a court order.
